“I believe health care is a human right. Health care should be affordable, accessible, and high quality. I will always fight to protect Medicaid and Medicare, lower prescription drug costs, and expand access to mental and reproductive health services. I recently spoke about the rising health care costs for Americans here.

I’m a proud co-sponsor of the Medicare for All Act, which would give every American access to high-quality, affordable health care—including long-term care, vision, dental, mental health, and reproductive services. I also supported the Inflation Reduction Act so Medicare can negotiate prescription drug prices and cap costs for seniors. To make sure doctors in New Mexico are fairly paid, I co-sponsored the Keep Physicians Serving Patients Act, which requires Medicare to cover the true cost of care.

I also want you to know I was a staunch opponent of the President’s big ugly bill. I didn’t just vote no—I voted HELL NO. At its core, this law will give $5 trillion giveaway to the ultra-wealthy while rural hospitals will be forced to close, and millions of Americans will lose health coverage. 

Most recently, I worked to expand healthcare access for rural tribal communities by introducing the IHS Provider Expansion Act.

Please be assured I will continue supporting legislation that protects Medicare and Medicaid and brings affordable and accessible health care to New Mexicans all across the state, no matter what their situation may be.”
