“Hey everyone, Josh Turek here running for the United States Senate in Iowa. And I am running to address healthcare. As someone that was born with my disability. I was born with a condition called spina bifida — had my first surgery at one day old, had 21 surgeries before the age of 12. This is an issue that is deeply personal to me. Some of the ways that we can do this: first of all, we need to have guardrails on insurance companies because doctors should be deciding care, not insurance companies. We need to make sure people can actually afford their medication. That means PBM reform. We need to address vertical integration in this as well. We need to expand negotiated drug costs on healthcare. We need to have a fully funded Medicare and Medicaid. I believe that healthcare is a human right and in the United State Senate, I’m going to fight to make sure that every Iowan regardless of where their born, urban area or rural area has access to quality and affordable healthcare. Where you live should not determine if you live.”
