Thank you for sharing your and Stephanie’s story with me. It is stories like yours that I hear all too often as I travel across New Jersey that make my commitment to Universal Single-Payer healthcare a top priority. That is the destination, one plan, full coverage for everyone.

Overhauling our entire healthcare system will take time. In the meantime, I support making the programs we have now easier to access and more comprehensive across the board, Medicare, Medicaid, and the ACA. We need to drastically raise the standard for any intermediary taking federal dollars in our healthcare system. The goal is to provide high quality care for ordinary people, not line the pockets of these companies with public money. Transparent pricing across the entire system and getting prescription drug prices under control are immediate priorities.

Our healthcare system is deeply dysfunctional. I support continuous efforts to move us toward universal full coverage while working tirelessly in the meantime to improve the system, targeting the bad actors who profit off its vulnerabilities to ensure people receive high quality care without the catastrophic consequences too many face today.
