“In the Allegheny Valley, too many working families, seniors, and low-income residents are being forced to make impossible choices between paying for groceries, utilities, housing, or the medications they need to stay healthy. No one should have to skip a prescription or ration medication because a pharmaceutical company, insurer, or other healthcare corporation has made it unaffordable. I will support stronger oversight and transparency requirements for large hospital systems, insurers, pharmaceutical companies, pharmacy benefit managers, and other healthcare corporations that contribute to rising costs. That means strengthening insurance rate review, increasing transparency around prescription drug pricing, holding PBMs accountable for practices that drive up costs, and scrutinizing hospital mergers and consolidation that can reduce competition and increase prices. I will also fight to lower out-of-pocket prescription costs, protect patients from excessive medical bills, and ensure that healthcare systems receiving public support are meeting their obligations to the communities they serve. Families across the Allegheny Valley deserve access to affordable healthcare and medication, and I will continue working to make sure patients come first.”
