Megan Griffin-Shelley

Candidate for Pennsylvania House of Representatives (PA-148)

“Affordability and accessibility in healthcare are among my top priorities. Right now, Pennsylvanians are paying more for less coverage, while growing healthcare deserts leave entire communities without reliable access to care. The General Assembly must step up to hold corporate healthcare entities accountable and bring costs down.

First, we must curb anti-competitive consolidation. I support empowering the Office of Attorney General to review and block bad for-profit healthcare mergers that raise prices or compromise patient care.

Second, we need total price transparency. I support mandating clear public posting of all standard charges and facility fees, alongside medical debt reforms that ensure patients are automatically informed about available charity care before facing collections. I also support reining in pharmacy benefit manager middleman markup fees to lower prescription drug costs.

Finally, we must make coverage obtainable and sustainable. That means fully funding the State Health Insurance Affordability Program to lower premiums on Pennie, protecting our Medicaid budget, and ensuring County Assistance Offices have the resources necessary to process applications without delays.”
