Rick Telesz

Candidate for Pennsylvania House of Representatives (PA-8)

Healthcare is currently unaffordable for too many Pennsylvanians. If elected as PA State House Representative for District 8, I will support legislation requiring hospitals to provide clear, accessible information about the cost of care and facility fees before treatment, with meaningful consequences for noncompliance. I also support moving toward a single-payer healthcare system, which could reduce administrative waste and duplication while using Pennsylvania’s purchasing power to lower costs. At the same time, we must make immediate improvements to the system we have today. CHIP should be accessible to every child, including children whose families cannot afford premiums but earn just enough to miss out on assistance. Eligibility limits should be adjusted regularly to reflect the rising cost of living so families do not lose coverage because of a small increase in income. We must also lower Medicare premiums, deductibles, prescription drug costs, and other out-of-pocket expenses so seniors are not forced to choose between healthcare and necessities like food, utilities, or housing.
