[ORG NAME] Joins Families USA’s “Stop the Bleed” Campaign to Hold [State] Lawmakers Accountable on Health Care Costs
[CITY, STATE] — [ORG NAME] is proud to join Families USA’s “Stop the Bleed: Cut Costs, Not Care” campaign, a national effort to hold policymakers accountable for addressing the corporate practices driving up the cost of health care in America.
The campaign centers on one critical question that every candidate and elected leader needs to answer: “What are you doing to lower the cost of health care and stop the bleed?”
[OPTION A — If congressional response secured]:
[ORG NAME] has already secured a response from [CONGRESSPERSON/CANDIDATE NAME], who [BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THEIR COMMITMENT/POSITION].
[ORG NAME] will continue pressing [STATE]’s full congressional delegation to go on the record about what they are doing to take on the corporate greed bleeding [STATE] families dry.
[OPTION B — If no response yet]:
[TBD ORG] will work hard to get [STATE]’s congressional candidates on the record to answer the critical question: what are you doing to take on the corporate greed that is bleeding [STATE] families dry?
[PLACEHOLDER QUOTE — adapt to your organization’s voice and priorities. Example below:]
“For far too long, [STATE] families have been struggling with the cost of healthcare. Every year, premiums rise. Every year, hospital bills go up. Every year, prescription drugs get more expensive. And now, after the deepest cuts to federal health care funding in history, [STATE RESIDENTS] are at risk of losing their insurance coverage entirely. Not only is this current path unsustainable, it’s putting lives at risk,” said [NAME, TITLE, ORG]. “As part of the Stop the Bleed campaign, [ORG] is committed to making sure every candidate and elected leader in [STATE] goes on the record with a real answer—not talking points—about what they will do to rein in corporate greed and bring down costs. Our communities deserve nothing less.”
The “Stop the Bleed” campaign is a coalition of Families USA partners and advocates across the country demanding candidates present concrete plans for taking on corporate greed and lowering health care costs. Responses will begin being published in April.
Americans have struggled with a health care affordability crisis for years, paying inflated and irrational prices while Congress has failed to act. After a year of devastating cuts to health care coverage and the looming expiration of premium tax credits for millions, [TBD ORG] is joining advocates nationwide to demand an affordability agenda that cuts costs, not care.
